When I was a child growing up in country Tasmania I spent most of my time outdoors on our farm and in the surrounding bush.
I constantly dreamed of my childhood home and the ability to fly above it.
For this painting I started with a memory of my flying dream and it developed from there.
The title “Listen, time passes” comes from the Dylan Thomas radio drama of 1954 titled ‘Under Milkwood’, where the listener is invited to listen to the ‘dreams’ of the inhabitants of a small fishing village where the cycles of time, seasons, life and death is an accepted part of their lives.
Strangely, I haven't had the dream since completing this work.....
